This is Springmile, the digital home of Diego Lago, a senior web developer who specialises in designing and building accessible, lightweight, fast, portable, and interactive websites and applications using web standards.
His current focus is user experience and front-end architecture and development and he uses this site to feature some of his work, share his findings about web stuff and as a test environment for all things web.

My main focus is user experience and front-end development but I consider myself a web all-rounder.
What I do
I bring my expertise in all aspects of design, development, and implementation of standard compliant and accessible user interfaces. As a result, I make applications look amazingly gorgeous, lightweight, fast, portable, and interactive. I'm also well versed in back-end technologies that help me build flexible and scalable web applications that are content managed and user friendly.
Currently
I live and work in cosmopolitan London, UK and I'm the lead interface developer at WTG, a leading technology consultancy and solutions provider to the UK Public Sector, specialising in the design, build and management of secure, high value and complex web applications.
Background
The conflict between my techie educational background and my passion for the graphic arts came to an end the day I discovered the web. Both sides helped me realised user interface design is as much about programming as the design itself. As I see it, Web UI design is not about building static page interfaces; it's about interactive application design. It should be done by people who know the latest web UI technology, and how to use it - coding in JavaScript, CSS and PHP.
